The good, the bad, and the awkward

Just finished reading this book that Owen bought for me at Christmas. I really have no interest in mountain climbing at all, but this book is really good. I have probably read 4 or 5 books about climbing Mount Everest and watched about 7 documentaries on it and I still learn something new each time. It's so fascinating how hard it is to climb that mountain and how so many people die trying to do it. This book is about 2 rich guys who know nothing about mountain climbing having the crazy idea to be the first to climb all 7 summits on each continent. Since they are trying to be the first to do this back in the 80s, oh, and they are in their 50s, it's interesting because back then it wasn't as easy as it would be today. I won't ruin the end and let you find out yourself what happens, if they make all 7, who dies, etc. True story.

I absolutely loved "Life of Pi" which has the same author as this book that I borrowed from a friend. This was the weirdest book I have ever read. The back cover describes it like this "a man wakes up one day and discovers that he is now a woman". Umm, yes, super weird. Not very good. If you like really weird books, then this one is for you and I won't ruin the ending. Since I knew Owen wouldn't read it, there were times I would stop, explain the plot and then read a selection for him. Then we would look awkwardy at each other and then burst out laughing.
FINALLY, saw the movie, "The Blind Side", which was awesome. I'm sure I'm the last person to see this movie, but I'm glad I did. If you haven't seen it- you should! Also, saw "The Proposal" and it was kinda stupid just as I thought it would be.
